Summer Taxes:
Summer taxes become a lien on the property on July 1st.  Tax bills should be received around this date.
Summer Taxes are due on September 14th, unless the 14th falls on a weekend or a holiday, then the due date will be the next business day.
If taxes are received after September 14th, 1% is added to the bill for the remainder of September and then 1% per month thereafter.

Winter Taxes:
Winter taxes become a lien on the property on December 1st.  Tax bills should be received around this date.
If taxes are to be paid in the same year they will need to be received by the last Township business day in December.  Please check the Township website or winter tax bill for that date.
Winter taxes are due by February 14th, unless the 14th falls on a weekend or a holiday, then the due date will be the next business day.  Taxes are paid at the Township until the last day of February, unless the last day of February falls on a weekend or a holiday, then the last day to pay taxes at the Township will be the next business day.  Taxes paid after February 14th may incur an additional penalty from the Township.

Howell Township does not accept postmarks.

Howell Township does accept Excel spreadsheets converted into a notepad for mortgage code imports and for tax payments, as an import.  The spreadsheet needs to include the following information:
        Parcel Number, Amount Due and Mortgage Code

All requests for tax bills should be emailed to: deputytreasurer@howelltownshipmi.org.  There is no fee for requests.

Checks need to be made payable to:  Howell Township Treasurer

Special Assessments for Sewer and Water are placed on the Winter Tax Bill.

There is a duplicate tax bill fee of $1.00.  Fee needs to be paid with a separate check.
