Planning Commission

Duties & Powers

The Township Planning Commission is responsible for guiding long-term land use planning and development within the township. The Commission reviews planning initiatives, development proposals, and policy recommendations to help ensure growth aligns with community goals, zoning regulations, and applicable laws.

Members serve designated terms and hold public meetings to review site plans, planning updates, and development matters while providing recommendations to township leadership. Through careful planning, public engagement, and thoughtful oversight, the Planning Commission helps promote orderly growth, protect community character, and support the township’s future development.

Meetings for the Planning Commission are held on the Fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:30PM. Meetings are open to the public in accordance with the Michigan Opens Meeting Act and may be attended at the following location: Howell Township Offices – 3525 Byron Road, Howell, MI 48855-7751.
